Real Madrid have recently been linked with a Chelsea player in the form of Kai Havertz. Los Blancos are in need of reinforcements this summer and the German is someone who is believed to have been on their radar for years now, even before he made the move to Stamford Bridge in 2020.

It remains to be seen if Real Madrid are able to sign him or not. At the same time though, it looks like Chelsea have set their sights on one of their targets as well.

Gabri Veiga has emerged as one of the brightest young talents in European football this season. The Spaniard has enjoyed a breakout La Liga campaign, and that has seen him being linked with some of the biggest clubs across the continent including both Real Madrid and Chelsea.

As reported by The Guardian, Chelsea have entered the race to sign from Celta Vigo. Mauricio Pochettino has switched his focus to the Spaniard after seeing his side miss out on Manuel Ugarte.

Veiga has had a superb campaign, which he capped off in style with a brace in a 2-1 win over Barcelona on the final matchday. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 11 goals and provided 4 assists in 36 La Liga appearances this season.

It was only in May that he turned 21 years of age as well. Thus, he has plenty of room and time to improve his game as well, and could be a stalwart for the Spanish national team for years to come.

All things considered, it is not hard to see why there is so much interest in Veiga. The likes of Barcelona and Liverpool are rumoured to be in the race to sign him as well. The Celta Vigo midfielder is believed to have a €40 million release clause in his current deal.
