Real Madrid are in clear need of reinforcements this summer. That was the case even before the departures of Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard and Mariano Diaz were announced. On the other hand, Fran Garcia is set to arrive while moves for Joselu and Jude Bellingham are also believed to be close.

Los Blancos need to strengthen further though, if they want to compete with Europe’s elite. And one player that they had been heavily linked with in recent days is Kai Havertz.

Havertz currently plays for Chelsea and is not coming off of a great campaign, just like his team. He has been the star man for the German national team over the last few years though.

Havertz has never looked like the right fit in the Premier League. His performances levels do improve in Europe though. There is no question about his talent and he does seem to have all the tools required to be a success at Real Madrid. The German was being linked with Los Blancos even before he made the move to Stamford Bridge three years back. Unfortunately, a transfer does not seem to be on the cards right now.

Real Madrid have made Havertz transfer decision

As reported by 90min, Real Madrid have cooled their pursuit of Havertz amid concerns over the transfer fee Chelsea are looking for.

Chelsea are believed to be looking to recoup the figure that they shelled out to sign Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2020. The problem is, the German international has not really met expectations since then.

Havertz has had his moments at Chelsea, including scoring their Champions League-winning goal in his debut season at the club. But overall, he has not achieved consistency or gone on to become one of the top players in world football.
