Real Madrid are expected to be very busy this summer. They were already in need of reinforcements, as their lack of depth had become clear over the course of the 2022/23 campaign. Los Blancos might have won the Copa del Rey, but they were a major disappointment in La Liga and were knocked out of the Champions League by Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate.

On top of that, the likes of Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Mariano Diaz and Marco Asensio have also left. Thus, Carlo Ancelotti’s options have been further reduced.

Thus, signings are needed all across the pitch. And one of the players that Real Madrid have been heavily linked with is Kai Havertz of Chelsea. The German international has not had a great time at Chelsea, even though he has been a part of some big moments for the club, including scoring the goal that won them their second Champions League title.

Overall though, his development has not gone as well as was expected and it feels like Havertz has not played up to his potential yet. Thus, there have been rumours linking him with a move away from Chelsea. Real Madrid are not the only club believed to be interested in the German though.

As reported by The Telegraph, Arsenal are thought to be monitoring developments regarding Havertz. Chelsea’s asking price, believed to be around £70 million, appears to be steep though.

It remains to be seen how things turn out for Havertz in the future. There have been rumours that he would be open to a change of scenery.

Chelsea do seem to be looking for a significant transfer fee to let him go though. And it is hard to see Real Madrid matching that this summer, especially with a big money move for Jude Bellingham close and the need to bring in a world-class striker.
