Success is a very relative term in football. Especially when it comes to mega clubs such as Real Madrid. The 2022-23 season saw the club claim three trophies in the form of the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and the ever so sparse Copa del Rey. Still, the campaign failed to meet the expectations of the fans.

The team is very balanced on paper. The goalkeeper is one of the very best in the world if not ‘The Best’ right now. The defence is solid as well, although it could do with a proper full-back or two. The midfield is the stuff of envy for clubs all across Europe with every player being world-class or thereabout. It is the forward line which is a worry right now.

When on form, the team has scored goals in bulk. But there have been times this season where they have struggled to break down opponents. Injuries and lack of alternatives have played a major role in this. One man whose name pops into immediate attention to solve all the riddles is Harry Kane.

The English skipper has had “will he or won’t he?” speculation surrounding him every summer transfer window for the past few years. Here are the reasons why he would be a perfect signing for Real Madrid.

4 Reasons why Real Madrid should sign Kane

1) A like-for-like replacement for Karim Benzema

A major reason for hiccups in Real Madrid’s form was due to the unavailability of a proper striker at times, with Benzema dealing with injuries. Now, with Mariano Diaz being released after his contract ran out and the French legend leaving for Al-Ittihad, there is no centre-forward on the roster apart from Alvaro Rodriguez, who is 18 years of age.

Kane could seamlessly replace Benzema on the pitch. He can be a natural successor and ensure that the goals keeping coming in the following seasons.

2) All sweat no glory at Tottenham Hotspur

Kane is a talisman for Tottenham Hotspur, having captained the side, being their top scorer of all-time and almost carrying the team on his back at times. All this has somewhat been in vain though as there is literally not a single trophy to show for all his efforts.

A player who is second in the list of all-time goal scorers in the Premier League, has won the Golden Boot thrice and is the first player to score 30 times or more in two separate 38-game Premier League seasons, does not even have a single accolade when it comes to club honours. Real Madrid on the other hand are consistent winners and signing with them would almost ensure that Kane won’t retire without a trophy in his cabinet.

3) A natural leader

Kane is the complete package. He has been captaining Tottenham Hotspur as well as the Three Lions effectively. With recent controversy involving Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid could use the leadership attributes of the Englishman.

He is a player who commands respect, both of his teammates and opponents. Having never been red carded in his Premier League career, he knows how to keep his emotions in check and being captain, he knows very well how to influence his peers.

4) Marketability

Florentino Perez is a very smart man when it comes to the economics of the game. We have Barcelona facing one problem after another while Real Madrid are living up to their name.

Signing Kane will be viable financially as well. He is a Galactico. He has flair, charisma, his personal fan following, everything. In short, he can sell those shirts with his name on it. And guess what; number 9 is there for the taking as well.
