Real Madrid find themselves in the middle of a difficult yet exciting period. On one hand, they are short of options all over the pitch. That was already the issue last season and the likes of Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz have left on top of that. At the same time though, it gives the club the chance to rebuild their squad, something that was very much needed.

They seem to have started in that quest as well. Fran Garcia has already arrived. The move for Jude Bellingham is also only a matter of time. And several other arrivals are expected as well.

At the same time though, Real Madrid must keep some experienced players at the club, in order to make this transitional period smooth. And they have been handed a major boost in that regard.

Nacho Fernandez is a player who was heavily linked with a move away this summer, with his contract running out. But now, the Spaniard seems set to stay on in the capital for another year at least.

Nacho confirmed the news on in an interview for television station RTVE and as reported by AS, he said:

"“My club and my family go hand in hand. There are always offers from abroad, but I have decided to stay for another year. I am very happy with this decision. I’m really excited to continue at Madrid.”"

Nacho is a true one club man, having come through the youth ranks at Real Madrid before establishing himself in the senior side. He has never even gone out on loan, spending his entire career till now, playing in the Royal White jersey.

Thus, Nacho staying on at Real Madrid is great news for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. He has proven himself as a solid contributor whenever on the pitch, even though he might have never been a nailed on starter. And most importantly, he knows the club like the back of his hand, having been here since 2001.
