Real Madrid have a number of players on their radar this summer, as the club need to strengthen their ranks. They were already lacking in depth and on top of that, the likes of Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz will be leaving as well. Thus, fans can look forward to multiple additions to Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
Fran Garcia has already arrived, after an impressive time at Rayo Vallecano. On the other hand, Brahim Diaz will be returning as well, after having spent three seasons on loan at AC Milan.
Brahim’s return could potentially end Real Madrid’s interest in one of the most exciting young talents in Spain right now. And it looks like Liverpool have moved ahead in the race to sign him.
As reported by The Northern Echo, Liverpool are currently firm favourites to land Celta Vigo attacking midfielder, Gabri Veiga.
Liverpool favourites to sign €40 million Real Madrid target
Veiga has emerged as one of the brightest young talents in Spanish football this season. He has enjoyed a breakout campaign with Celta Vigo this time around, and that has seen him being linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Veiga scored 11 goals and provided 4 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions in the 2022/23 campaign.
It remains to be seen how things turn out for Veiga. But a move to Real Madrid seems unlikely this summer, as the club have several other areas on the pitch where they are in more immediate need of reinforcements.
Of course, there is not expected to be any lack of interest in the midfield, who is still just 21 years of age and has a world of potential. Liverpool, Newcastle United and several other clubs across Europe have been linked with Veiga over the past several months.
