Real Madrid are in need of reinforcements this summer and it is promising to see that they are making movements in the right direction. They have already announced the arrivals of Jude Bellingham and Fran Garcia, two players who could have starting roles come next season. And it seems that they have gotten another deal over the line as well.

Joselu is set to arrive at Real Madrid on a season-long loan deal. That is actually a very smart signing on the part of the club.

Joselu is playing the best football of his career right now. He scored the winner for Spain in the UEFA Nations League semi-final against Italy just recently. And he had a great individual 2022/23 campaign at club level as well, even though Espanyol were relegated. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 17 goals and provided 4 assists in 38 appearances last season.

The loan arrival of Joselu has been expected for a while. But now, it looks like they can sign him on a permanent basis for a bargain fee as well.

Real Madrid can sign 17-goal striker for €1.5 million fee

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, there is a buy option clause in the deal for Joselu, not mandatory, for €1.5 million. Real Madrid will shell out a €500,000 loan fee to Espanyol.

Of course, everything will depend on how Joselu performs for Real Madrid. He will be 34 years of age come next summer. Thus, one would expect Los Blancos to be reluctant to sign him on a permanent basis, even for a bargain fee, if he is contributing to the side.

That being said, Joselu is performing at a very high level at this moment. He is not expected to be a starter for Real Madrid next season, but he can definitely be a big contributor as the back up striker.
