Real Madrid have been linked with a long list of names in recent times, as it is quite clear that they need to make plenty of signings in this summer transfer window. Of course, they have to be smart with their moves as well. One has to think that they have already spent a large chunk of their budget to bring Jude Bellingham to Santiago Bernabeu.

On top of that, they need to bring in a world-class striker as well. Karim Benzema left the club at the end of last campaign to join Al-Ittihad, a season earlier than initial expectations. Thus, Real Madrid are without a first-choice number 9 at the moment.

One of the players that they have been linked with lately is Kai Havertz. The German has not had a great run at Chelsea, there is no doubt about his quality and in the right team, he could be an excellent player.

A move to Real Madrid might not be on the cards for him though. As tweeted out by Florian Plettenberg, Havertz is very close to joining Arsenal now. It all depends on the final offer from the club now.

The total transfer package for Havertz is expected to be around €80 million. Real Madrid are not expected to be ready to go anywhere near that.

Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for Havertz, with Thomas Tuchel rumoured to be keen on reuniting with the German international. But it looks like Arsenal is his most likely destination at this point.

There is no doubt that Havertz has the talent to be an excellent player and his style could have fit perfectly in La Liga. But shelling out €80 million to sign someone who has not met expectations over his three seasons at Chelsea is risky.
