Real Madrid have built up quite the reputation for signing the best young talent around the world and assembling a team not just for the present but also the future. Just in the ongoing transfer window, they have brought in Jude Bellingham, who is considered as a future Ballon d’Or contender by many.

Real Madrid need to make more additions to their squad though, especially in the forward areas. And with Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard both leaving, signing another winger or two might be a good idea.

It looks like they have their eyes on one of the most highly-rated wingers in Spanish football right now. It is none other than Nico Williams, who has been making a huge impact for Athletic Bilbao.

As reported by The Athletic, talks over extending Nico’s contract with Athletic Bilbao will take place in the coming weeks. Real Madrid have also been aware of his situation.

Thus, it looks like Real Madrid are keeping an eye on the situation of Nico. His current deal with Athletic Bilbao runs out in the summer of 2024. He has been drawing interest from the Premier League as well.

Nico is believed to have a €50 million release clause in his current deal. But considering there is only a year left on his contract, Athletic Bilbao might have to part ways with him this summer for a bargain fee, if they are unable to agree an extension over the coming weeks.

Nico has been performing at a very high level already and has made quite a few appearances for the Spanish national team as well, even though he is still just 20 years of age. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 9 goals and provided 6 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions in the 2022/23 campaign.
