Real Madrid pulled off a major coup recently by signing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund. The Englishman is considered by many as a future Ballon d’Or contender and at 19 years of age, he was the best player in the Bundesliga last season. Thus, it is not hard to see why there has been so much excitement around his arrival.

If Bellingham’s development goes as expected and he remains fit, he could be a mainstay in the middle of the park for Real Madrid for the next decade or so. Of course, he will come up against Barcelona on numerous occasions if that is the case.

Football fans will be looking forward to the contest between Bellingham and Gavi in future El Classicos. Both are two of the most highly-rated young midfielders in the game right now.

Gavi does not seem to be too concerned about Real Madrid’s signing of Bellingham though. As reported by SPORT, when asked about the matter, the Barcelona youngster said:

"“Madrid can sign whoever they want, I don’t care. We’ve got our own and we’re going to go for it.”"

It will be interesting to see how next season turns out. This time around, it was pretty even between the two Spanish giants.

Yes, Barcelona did win La Liga. But at the same time, Real Madrid clinched the Copa del Rey and made it to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, while Xavi’s side were knocked out from the group stages of the competition itself and then they failed to deliver in the Europa League as well.

So, it is safe to say that there is not a world of difference between Real Madrid and Barcelona right now. And if Los Blancos are able to make the right signings and proper adjustments this summer, then we could be headed for a tight title race in the upcoming season.
