Pep Guardiola makes Kylian Mbappe claim amid Real Madrid rumours
Real Madrid have made a bright start to their summer transfer window. They have already announced the signings of Jude Bellingham, Fran Garcia and Joselu. On top of that, Brahim Diaz could be like a new arrival as well, as the Spaniard spent the last three seasons out on loan at AC Milan.
More signings are needed though, if they are to compete with the elite teams in Europe like Manchester City. And what Real Madrid need immediately is a world-class forward, after Karim Benzema left at the end of last season to join Al-Ittihad.
One player that they have been linked with for years is Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman will not be extending his contract with PSG beyond the summer of 2024. Thus, the Ligue 1 club could try to part ways with him in this window, rather than risk seeing him walk out for nothing a year later.
Under these circumstances, one of the clubs who have been linked with Mbappe are Manchester City. But it does not look like Pep Guardiola’s side have any plans of signing the Frenchman.
Guardiola makes Mbappe claim amid Real Madrid rumours
As tweeted out Fabrizio Romano, Guardiola said about Mbappe:
"“We will not sign Kylian Mbappé, he’s not joining Man City — all of you know where he wants to go…”"
Manchester City are fresh off of winning the treble. Thus, them signing Mbappe would have been a major blow for all teams with Champions League aspirations and thankfully, it is not happening.
It is pretty much an open secret that Mbappe has dreamt of joining Real Madrid for a long time, but it has not materialised yet. It remains to be seen if the club will try to sign him this summer, having already brought in Jude Bellingham in a blockbuster move. One cannot also overlook the rumours of Los Blancos sharing a frosty relationship with PSG at the moment, which would make any negotiations difficult.
