Real Madrid might not have a lot of depth in their squad right now, but they still have a lot of exceptional players. That is the reason why the club were competitive in all three major competitions last season and won the Copa del Rey as well as the Club World Cup despite having an unquestionable lack of options in several areas across the pitch.

One of the players who has emerged as a nailed on starter during the time of Carlo Ancelotti as manager is Federico Valverde. The Uruguayan was always a solid midfielder and has now added goals to his game as well.

For a period of time last season, he was almost unplayable, scoring goals for fun. Valverde showed that he has the potential to be one of the top midfielders on the planet. Now, it is about producing that football on a consistent basis.

Of course, his displays have caught the eye of some of the biggest teams across Europe. As reported by TEAMtalk, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have all made genuine attempts to try and sign Valverde this summer

It looks like Real Madrid are not looking to part ways with Valverde. And the Uruguayan seems happy at Santiago Bernabeu as well.

That is the right step on the part of the club as well. Valverde has already shown how good he can be, when at his best. Now, it is about not just reaching that level but staying there. At 24 years of age, he has plenty of time on his hands to do that. He is a very good player, as is.

Of course, the arrival of Jude Bellingham does raise questions about whether Valverde will remain a starter next season. Only time shall tell. There is no reason the two could not be part of the same starting XI.
