Manchester United are in an interesting position right now. It is quite clear that they have made progress under the management of Erik ten Hag and even won the League Cup last season. At the same time though, they still are not where they would want to be, and that is at the top of the footballing world. A potential change of ownership is on the horizon as well. And if that does happen, the Red Devils could end up trying to sign one of Real Madrid’s best players.

Manchester United’s goalkeeping situation is interesting right now. David de Gea has been at the club for over a decade. His time at Old Trafford might be coming to an end in the near future though.

Thibaut Courtois has arguably been Real Madrid’s best player in recent times and is most probably the best goalkeeper on the planet right now. And it looks like Manchester United might potentially try to sign him in the future.

As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Courtois might become the subject of Manchester United’s interest if Sheikh Jassim takeover plans are successful. The Red Devils might submit an offer around €80 million for the Real Madrid goalkeeper in that scenario.

Courtois is an integral part of this Real Madrid team and he seems to be only getting better. Thus, fans would be hoping that he remains at the club for as long as possible.

At the same time though, Courtois is 31 years of age already. Thus, if an €80 million offer did arrive on Real Madrid’s table for him, they might consider it.

The club have been very open to letting key players go in recent years. In fact, both Raphael Varane and Casemiro joined Manchester United in consecutive summer transfer windows.
