Real Madrid struggled with a lack of depth last season. With five substitutions now being allowed, having options has become even more important to succeeding at the highest level. And that is where Los Blancos are falling short at the moment, when compared to teams like Manchester City, who have an incredible deep roster of players across the pitch. Yet, it looks like the Spanish giants are open to letting more players leave.
Real Madrid have already seen Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard and Mariano Diaz leave. And three more could join them out of the exit door, if things go according to plan.
As reported by Cadena SER (via GOAL), Real Madrid have placed Ferland Mendy, Alvaro Odriozola and Jesus Vallejo on the transfer market. They are also open to offers for Lucas Vazquez.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for them. None of them are starters in Carlo Ancelotti’s side. But them leaving would reduce options further, unless the club intend to bring in replacements this summer.
Real Madrid ready to let three players go this summer
Mendy was viewed as first-choice left-back for Real Madrid not too long ago. But the Frenchman has struggled with form and fitness for some time now. On the other hand, the club have recently signed Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano, who could be the starter come next season.
Both Vallejo and Odriozola have barely played for Real Madrid in recent times. Thus, them leaving would not be expected to have a huge impact to be honest. Vazquez has acted as cover at right-back for some time now, although there have been suggestions that the club are looking to strengthen there.
Let’s see how things ultimately turn out. One would hope though that Real Madrid do not go into next season with a clear lack of depth, like the club did this time around.
