Real Madrid have a number of areas on the pitch, where they could do with reinforcements. Right-back certainly falls under that category. Dani Carvajal is a club legend but he is no longer the player that he was in his prime. The Spaniard has been struggling for form and fitness lately. Unfortunately, Los Blancos do not have genuine back up for him either.

Lucas Vazquez and Nacho Fernandez are both beyond 30 years of age, and they are not genuine right-backs either. On the other hand, Alvaro Odriozola has barely featured and is expected to be on his way out this summer.

Thus, Real Madrid could do with another right-back this summer. And while it remains to be seen whether will go for a more experienced option later in the window, they seem to be close to agreeing a deal for Vinicius Tobias.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk are at contracts signing stage for new transfer of Tobias. It is a loan deal until June 2024 for a €500,000 fee, plus they have a buy option clause for €15 million, which is not mandatory. The agreement is sealed.

Tobias spent the previous season on loan at Real Madrid as well. And he played all of his football at the Castilla level.

Tobias is very highly rated but he is yet to break into the first-team picture at Santiago Bernabeu. It is quite clear that the club have high hopes for him though, considering that they are bringing him back for another loan spell.

Real Madrid have a great recent record when it comes to developing wonderkids into first-team starters. They have done it with the likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde. Can they repeat the trick with Tobias?
