Real Madrid need to strengthen in several positions across the pitch, as they lack options. One area that is in need of immediate reinforcements is right-back. Dani Carvajal might be a club legend but most people recognise that today he is nowhere near the player that he was in prime. There is no genuine back up for him either.
Nacho and Lucas Vazquez are both older than Carvajal, and they are converted right-backs. On the other hand, Alvaro Odriozola has not featured much and is expected to leave this summer. Vinicius Tobias has been brought back on loan for another season but there are doubts whether he can make the jump from Castilla to the senior team.
Thus, Real Madrid could do with a world-class right-back at this point of time. And it is no surprise that they have been continuously linked with Achraf Hakimi.
Hakimi came through the ranks at Real Madrid but was let go before ever getting a proper chance in the first-team. It has proven to be a major mistake, as the Moroccan has gone to establish himself as one of the best right-backs in the game.
Hakimi’s agent makes Real Madrid return claim
There seems to be some good news for Los Blancos, if they intend to make a move for Hakimi in the future. As reported by 90min, his agent, Alejandro Camano, said in an interview with AS:
"“Achraf has been away from Real Madrid for five years, but it is always his home, somewhere in his heart the club is there.“If Real Madrid want to sign him, we will listen. If you ask him you will see that he is a Real Madrid fan, but our project now is that of PSG.“Great players always see Real Madrid as a target. How many players would want to go there? Achraf lived it, and has been formed with the club’s values.”"
Signing Hakimi would be considered as a major coup for any club in world football right now. He has already proven is mettle at Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and PSG.
Real Madrid are rumoured to have a frosty relationship with PSG at the moment though, and that could make negotiations difficult. On the other hand, Hakimi has been linked with a move to Manchester City recently as well.
