Manchester City finally climbed to the top of the European game by winning the Champions League last season, after years of trying under the management of Pep Guardiola. On their way to the crown, they defeated Real Madrid by a 5-1 aggregate scoreline in the semi-finals. And it looks like the Premier League club are interested in one of their transfer targets as well.

Achraf Hakimi came through the ranks at Real Madrid but left the club before he was able to make much of an impact at the senior level. In hindsight, it has proven to be a major mistake on the part of Los Blancos.

Hakimi has developed into one of the best right-backs in the game. On the other, right-back is an area of weakness for Real Madrid at the moment. Dani Carvajal is longer the player that he was in his prime and there is no real back up for him either.

Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid have been continuously linked with a move for Hakimi. But it looks like Manchester City could try to sign him this summer as well.

As reported by MARCA, Guardiola has already set his eyes on Hakimi. They are in search of a replacement for Kyle Walker.

Walker has been a mainstay in this Manchester City team for years. But it looks like he could be on his way out this summer, with a move to Bayern Munich looking likely. If that happens, Guardiola’s side will need to find a right-back to replace him and it appears that Hakimi is in their sights.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Hakimi. But with Real Madrid having already signed Jude Bellingham and rumours of a move for Kylian Mbappe doing the rounds as well, it seems unlikely that the club would try to sign the Moroccan this summer.
