Following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer of 2018, Karim Benzema had established himself as the face of Real Madrid for the past five seasons. Now, the Frenchman has left the club as well though. And at the moment, it certainly feels like Vinicius Junior will be the main man moving forward.

The Brazilian has enjoyed a meteoric rise under the management of Carlo Ancelotti. For years, he was considered as an inconsistent player, who had all the talent in the world but was let down by his inefficiency in the final third of the pitch.

Over the past couple of seasons, Vinicius has proven to be a difference maker in front of goal though and a big game player as well. And while there has been some speculation about his long-term future in Spain, it looks like the Brazilian is set to extend his stay at Real Madrid.

As reported by MARCA, news of Vinicius’ contract renewal will be public in the coming days. At Real Madrid they view the Brazilian as the franchise player.

Vinicius staying on at Real Madrid will be best for the future of the club. Los Blancos have already seen numerous legends leave over the past few years.

It is now time for the likes of Vinicius to step up to the plate and make sure that Real Madrid continue to enjoy success on the pitch for years to come. Of course, he cannot do it alone.

Real Madrid are building a team for the future though and have players like Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Fede Valverde and more in their ranks. And there has been a lot of speculation about a move for Kylian Mbappe this summer, with the Frenchman unwilling to extend his contract with PSG beyond the summer of 2024.
