Real Madrid are in need of a striker right now, after seeing Karim Benzema leave at the end of last season. The Frenchman had been the talisman of this team for the past five seasons, following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018, even winning the Ballon d’Or last year. Thus, it is clear that Los Blancos need a world-class centre-forward to replace him.
They have brought in Joselu on a season-long loan. But there are doubts whether he can be the man to lead the line for Real Madrid. On top of that, the only other recognised striker in the squad is Alvaro, the 18-year-old Uruguayan wonderkid.
Thus, Real Madrid could certainly do with another striker. But there have been suggestions that they might not be signing one this summer.
As reported by The Athletic, Carlo Ancelotti is disappointed with the fact that Real Madrid’s course appears to have veered from the roadmap that was set out earlier in the month. But, the Italian manager is ready to reinvent himself in order to get the most out of the squad that is available to him.
Ancelotti unhappy with Real Madrid situation
There have been rumours that Ancelotti is considering changing formations next season in order to get the best out of this Real Madrid team. That could see Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo play together up top, and a diamond in midfield, in a 4-4-2 formation.
Of course, it is not ideal to tweak with the position of players like Vinicius, who has done so well over the past couple of years. But it might very well be the call of the hour, if the club do not sign another striker this summer.
Let’s see how things unfold over the coming weeks and months. But the recent transfer rumours will certainly worry Real Madrid supporters.
