Real Madrid do not have a deep squad at this point of time and are very much in a transitional phase. What they do have though is a core of young players with world-class potential, and once they get some experience under their belt and some more options around them, this team could dominate European football for years.
Things can change very quickly in football. And the situation of Eduardo Camavinga is a perfect example of that.
In the first half of the 2022/23 season, Camavinga was struggling for playing time and spending most of his time sitting on the bench. There were even suggestions that he could be sent out on loan in January in order to get first-team chances.
Things changed after the World Cup though. Camavinga went on to establish himself as a regular starter and one of Real Madrid’s best performers. And that has seen the French international being rewarded.
Real Madrid agree five-year deal with French player
As reported by MARCA, Camavinga has agreed a lucrative contract extension with Real Madrid which will keep him at the club until 2028. The Frenchman’s new deal has been finalised in the last few days.
It is hard to believe that Camavinga is still just 20 years of age. He has already won every trophy possible with Real Madrid and represented France in a World Cup final.
Thus, Camavinga has the potential to be one of the best players in the world for more than a decade to come. And he is surrounded in midfield by other supreme talents like Fede Valverde, Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni.
So, while Real Madrid might have holes in a number of areas across the pitch, they are stacked in the middle of the park. The youngsters also have legends like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric to learn from.
