Real Madrid need a world-class striker right now. For the past five seasons, Karim Benzema had been the main source of goals and the face of the club, following the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018. The Frenchman has left though, in order to join Al-Ittihad. On the other hand, his back up option, Mariano Diaz, has departed the club as well.
On the other hand, Real Madrid have brought in Joselu on loan for the season. But it does not feel like the Spaniard is the man to lead the line for Los Blancos. He would fit the role of a back up striker much better.
Thus, Real Madrid could do with another striker this summer. They have been linked with plenty of big names. But worryingly, those rumours have faded away in recent weeks.
One of the players that Real Madrid have been linked with is Victor Osimhen, he guided Napoli to the Serie A title last season. But a move to Santiago Bernabeu seems unlikely due to one reason.
Real Madrid not ready to sign Osimhen for one reason
As reported by The Athletic, Osimhen is liked by Real Madrid. But Napoli are not considering parting ways with the striker for less than €100 million, a figure Los Blancos would be reluctant to match.
Osimhen was one of the best strikers in Europe last season, proving his mettle not just with his performances in Italy but in the Champions League as well. Thus, it is not hard to see why Napoli want a 9-figure transfer fee to considering letting him go.
That is normal in the current transfer market and if Real Madrid want a player of Osimhen’s quality, they will need to shell out to sign him. And at the moment, it is starting to like Joselu could end up being the first-choice number 9 at the club come next season.
