Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the best player in Real Madrid history. He is the highest scorer in the history of the club, won four Champions League titles along with several other trophies during his time at Santiago Bernabeu and even clinched four Ballon d’Ors while playing in the Royal White jersey.

One player who played extensively with Ronaldo during their time together at Real Madrid is Gareth Bale. In fact, the club broke the Portuguese’s transfer record, when they signed the Welshman from Tottenham Hotspur.

Bale’s time at Real Madrid might not have ended on the happiest note. But nobody can deny what he brought to the team in his prime, rising to the occasion in many big games and winning five Champions League titles as well as many other trophies during his spell at Santiago Bernabeu.

Bale recently made an interesting revelation about Ronaldo. It will not surprise those who have followed the Portuguese superstar throughout the course of his career though. As reported by GOAL, the Welshman said while speaking on Martin Borgmeier’s YouTube channel:

"“He was actually okay. He had his moments. For example, if we win 5-0 and he didn’t score, he comes in and throws his boots like he’s angry. It’s like your team winning in the Ryder Cup but you didn’t get a point so you are angry.“But he was a nice guy, nothing wrong, we didn’t really have any problems. A lot of people could be scared of how he is but if you’re not then it’s fine.”"

Ronaldo is clearly someone who cares a lot about being the best at what he does. And it is this mentality that took him to the very top of the game, and placed him amongst the greatest footballers in history.

Whether Ronaldo cared about his individual numbers does not matter. What matters is that he made the difference and brought a lot of success to the clubs that he played for through the course of his storied career.

We have seen him struggle to do that in recent years. But nobody should forget what he has achieved in this game for the past two decades. When decides to call it a day, he will go down as one of the best ever.
