The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid saga has been running on for years, and has had plenty of twists and turns. There could be a few more to come as well. It recently emerged that the Frenchman was not looking to extend his current deal with PSG, and it runs out in the summer of 2024.

That has left PSG with very options and in a difficult situation. They might have to try and transfer Mbappe this summer or see him walk out as a free agent a year later.

If Mbappe is to leave, whether that be this summer or the next one, Real Madrid appear to be his most likely destination. A few other clubs have been linked with him over the past few days as well though.

Rumours broke out not too long ago that Liverpool were interested in signing the Frenchman. And there have been suggestions recently that Arsenal are keeping an eye on Mbappe’s situation as well.

As reported by CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano clarified the Mbappe situation in his latest exclusive CaughtOffside column:

"“Despite some big headlines, I honestly have absolutely no news on any English clubs being in talks to sign Mbappe.“If something will happen in the next months we will say that, but at this point I’ve absolutely zero information on this one.“Real Madrid are always very well informed on Mbappe; I’m not aware of anything else at this point.”"

It will be interesting to see if English clubs make a move for Mbappe, if it becomes clear that he will leave PSG. There is expected to be some sort of interest for sure, in signing arguably the best player in the world.

At the same time though, the Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer move almost seems inevitable at this point. It is no secret that the Frenchman grew up supporting the club and idolising Cristiano Ronaldo.

Stranger things have happened in football over the years though, in fact in the Mbappe saga itself. So nothing should be taken for granted until we see him holding up the Real Madrid jersey.
