The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid rumours just refuse to go away. Things were expected to be quiet this summer. But speculation has picked up momentum once again, after it emerged that the Frenchman had informed PSG that he does not intend to extend his contract with the club. His current deal runs out in the summer of 2024.

Thus, there have been suggestions that PSG could try to transfer Mbappe this summer. Otherwise, they risk seeing him walk out as a free agent just a year later.

If Mbappe was to move this summer, Real Madrid are considered to be his most likely destination. But it does not look like they are anticipating the transfer at Santiago Bernabeu.

As reported by MARCA, Mbappe wants €240 million in the scenario that he is transferred in this window. Real Madrid don’t believe they will sign the Frenchman this summer and that they would only get him if he signs his contract after he is able to negotiate from January 1 of 2024.

A move next summer looks much more likely, when Mbappe is believed to be available as a free agent. And while Real Madrid would still need to hand him a major package, at least a transfer fee would be out of the question.

Of course, nothing can be ruled out when it comes to the Mbappe saga. Premier League clubs will surely be interested in signing the Frenchman as well, while we have seen him extend his PSG contract unexpectedly in the past. So let’s see if a move to Real Madrid ultimately transpires in the future.
