Manchester United were linked with a move for Kim Min-jae this summer, after he guided Napoli to the Serie A title last season. But the Red Devils appear to have lost out in the transfer race for the South Korean centre-back, as he is set to join Bayern Munich. On the other hand, the Premier League giants seem to have turned their sights towards one of Real Madrid’s defenders.

Manchester United are no strangers to signing players from Real Madrid. In 2021, they signed Raphael Varane. And last summer, they completed an unexpected move for Casemiro.

Now, it appears that the Red Devils might be looking to sign a player from Real Madrid for three summers in a row. Their target this time around is Eder Militao.

As reported by El Nacional, Manchester United wants to sign Militao from Real Madrid at all costs. Erik ten Hag wants the Brazilian international as part of his defence.

Militao arrived at Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 from FC Porto. And the Brazilian did not make a great start to life at Santiago Bernabeu.

In fact, Militao was a back up centre-back in his first two seasons with Real Madrid. He would finally become a starter for the club, following the exits of Sergio Ramos and Varane in the summer of 2021.

Since then, Militao has proven himself though. He is arguably the best centre-back that Los Blancos have right now. And at 25 years of age, he is expected to be part of their long-term plans. It is worth remembering that David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and Nacho Fernandez are all over the age of 30.

As a result, it is hard to see Real Madrid letting go of Militao at this point of time. But then, nobody could have foreseen Casemiro going to Manchester United either. Absolutely nothing should be taken for granted.
