Real Madrid continue to be linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe. It has emerged recently that the French World Cup winner does not want to extend his contract with PSG, and it runs out in the summer of 2024. As a result, the Ligue 1 champions appear to have come to a clear decision about his future.
PSG want Mbappe to sign an extension over the coming weeks. Or, they want to transfer him this summer. The French giants do not want to risk losing him as a free agent a year later.
If Mbappe does leave PSG this summer, then Real Madrid looks like his most likely destination. Rumours have emerged about Liverpool being interested in signing him as well though. So let’s see how things play out.
There have been plenty of twists and turns in the Mbappe saga over the years. And there could be more to come. If Real Madrid are able to sign him, they could potentially hand a blow to Barcelona at the same time.
Real Madrid could hand Ousmane Dembele blow to Barcelona
As reported by Foot Mercato (via GOAL), PSG have identified Dembele as the ideal replacement for Mbappe, in case he leaves. The Barcelona player has a €50 million release clause, and the Ligue 1 champions are ready to pay that in full.
Dembele has been one of Barcelona’s better players over the past couple of seasons and seems to be a big part of Xavi’s plans. Thus, the Frenchman leaving would come as a major blow for the Catalan giants.
Thus, Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid could lead to a domino effect that might end up being a double boost for Los Blancos. Of course, that would be thinking too far ahead. It remains to be seen if the Frenchman even leaves PSG this summer.
