Kylian Mbappe’s future at PSG is shrouded in uncertainty at the moment. It has emerged that the Frenchman does not want to extend his current deal with the Ligue 1 champions. Naturally, it has put them in a difficult situation, with his contract running out in the summer of 2024. And unsurprisingly, Real Madrid have been rumoured as a possible destination for the World Cup winner.
PSG have made it clear that they want Mbappe to either extend his contract or leave this summer itself, so that the club do not miss out on a significant transfer fee. Of course, a lot will depend on the player as well and what he wants to do.
Mbappe has been linked with not only Real Madrid but the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal as well. But the possibility of him staying on and seeing out his contract with PSG cannot be ruled out either, as that would allow the Frenchman to become a free agent next summer.
As tweeted out by Abdellah Boulma, Mbappe is determined to complete his contract with PSG. He still does not envisage any departure this summer. There are no negotiations with Real Madrid and his goal so far is to leave as a free agent in June 2024.
Mbappe makes decision amid Real Madrid rumours
Real Madrid look like the most likely destination for Mbappe, whether he leaves PSG this summer or the next one. It will be interesting to see how things play out from here on in this long-running saga though.
It would not be ideal for Mbappe to stay on at PSG, if the club do not want him there. On the other hand, would Real Madrid be open to shelling out a blockbuster transfer fee this summer, if they have the opportunity to sign the Frenchman as a free agent just a year later?
There are a lot of variables in play at the moment. There have been a lot of twists and turns in the Mbappe to Real Madrid saga over the years. Do not be surprised to see a few more.
