Real Madrid have been fantastic in recent years when it comes to identifying and signing the right young talents. That has seen them bring in the likes of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Eduardo Camavinga and Fede Valverde as teenagers. All of them have developed into first-team stars during their time at Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid have continued to bring in youngsters this summer as well. And their most recent signing was Arda Guler.
Guler is still only 18 years of age but he has already impressed at the senior level for Fenerbahce. So much so that he was also linked with Barcelona as well as several other Premier League clubs, but it was Real Madrid who came out on top in the race to sign the youngster.
Guler is one of the most highly rated youngsters in Europe right now and has even been nicknamed the ‘Turkish Messi’. But he has been called a mix of Guti and Luka Modric by the scout who discovered his talents.
Real Madrid signing called mix of Modric and Guti
As reported by SPORT, Serhat Pekmezi said in an interview with journalist Gianluca Di Marzio:
"“The new Messi? They are very different. Güler would say that he is more of a mix between Guti and Modric. He is very confident, has great ambition, and has the ability to unlock games. He will one day be captain of Real Madrid.”"
Already predicting Guler to be the captain of Real Madrid in the future, before he has played a game in the Royal White jersey, is certainly very bold. It remains to be seen if the Turkish wonderkid can match those sky high expectations.
Guti came through the Real Madrid youth system and spent 15 years playing at the senior level for Los Blancos. On the other hand, Modric is arguably the best midfielder of his generation and has won numerous accolades during his time at Santiago Bernabeu. Thus, if Guler goes on to achieve even half of either of the two, he would have had a fantastic career. We can only wish him the best of luck.
