€40 million Real Madrid target wants to join Chelsea

Real Madrid have built of quite the reputation for identifying and signing of the best young talents in world football. Just at this point of time, the club have the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Fede Valverde, Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler and several others on their roster. It is a team for the now as well as the future.

Another very highly rated youngster that Real Madrid have been linked with for years is Rayan Cherki. The club are rumoured to have been keeping an eye on the Lyon player’s development since Zinedine Zidane was manager of Los Blancos.

Real Madrid have not made a move yet though. And it looks like other clubs, namely Chelsea, might end up pushing to sign him this summer.

Rumours have emerged that the Blues are preparing an offer for the French wonderkid. And as reported by ESPN, Cherki is keen to join Chelsea. He is valued at around €40 million and has a contract until the summer of 2025.

Chelsea have lost several midfielders this summer. Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and N’Golo Kante have all left in the ongoing window. Jorginho joined Arsenal in January. On the wing, Christian Pulisic seems to be closing in on a move to AC Milan.

Cherki is someone who is capable of playing in the number 10 role or on the wings. Thus, he could fill multiple roles for a club like Chelsea.

He is a special talent without doubt. He has already shown glimpses of that for Lyon last season. While it will take patience for him to develop fully, as he is still just 19 years of age, if Cherki can fulfil his potential then he could potentially be one of the best players of his generation.
