Real Madrid have done a fantastic job in recent seasons when it comes to identifying top young talents from around the world, signing them and then turning them into regular starters at Santiago Bernabeu. That same cannot be said about many talented youngsters who have come through the youth ranks at the club though.

There have been many Real Madrid youth stars in recent years, who have been very highly-rated. But they have not gotten the proper chances to show their quality at the senior level for Los Blancos.

A great example is Fran Garcia. He proved himself for Rayo Vallecano, established himself as one of the best left-backs in La Liga and Real Madrid have signed him this summer, after letting him go just a few years ago.

One very highly-rated player currently at Castilla is Rafa Marin. Despite all the hype surrounding him, the Spanish centre-back has not even made his debut for Real Madrid at the senior level yet. He is 21 years of age already.

As reported by AS, Real Betis are the strongest candidate for Marin at the moment. He is also on Villarreal’s radar.

Real Madrid might try to reach a deal where they have a hefty sell-on clause and potentially a right of first refusal as well. That is what the club have typically done over the years when letting highly-rated youngsters go.

Marin has been linked with several clubs from abroad over the years. But for the time being, it appears that he might be looking set to remain in Spain and develop at the senior level.

Let’s see how things turn out for Marin. This might be the right time for both parties to part ways but a reunion in the future should not be ruled out.
