Injuries have been a major problem for Real Madrid for quite some time and unfortunately, it looks like that will continue to be the case. We are just days into pre-season training and Los Blancos have already picked up their first injury blow, as a player has been ruled out of action until September.
It was not too long ago that Dani Ceballos signed a contract extension with Real Madrid. Considering the depth in the club’s midfield though, one has to wonder how many chances he will get moving forward though.
Some rumours even suggested that Ceballos could be sent out on loan and brought back into the fold when the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are no longer at the club. But the Spaniard has suffered a blow before the season has even started.
As reported by ESPN, Ceballos is expected to be unavailable until September after he suffered a thigh injury. The Spaniard was not expected to be able to return to training until late August or early September.
Real Madrid player suffers injury and ruled out for several weeks
Most people had Ceballos expected to leave the club this summer. That was before he turned his Real Madrid career last season with a number of impressive performances.
As a result, he ended up earning himself an extension with the club. Although not many expect him to be a regular starter for Los Blancos ahead of the like of Modric, Kroos, Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde, the Spaniard could certainly have a role to play off the bench. And that might be especially true if Carlo Ancelotti’s moves to a four-man midfield next season.
Let’s see what the future holds. We can only wish Ceballos the best of luck and hope that he recovers as soon as possible.
