It was just last summer that Real Madrid signed Aurelien Tchouameni from Ligue 1 side, AS Monaco. for a transfer fee believed to be around €100 million including add-ons. That is one of the highest in Los Blancos history and as a result, there were high expectations surrounding the Frenchman.

Those were further magnified when Real Madrid legend, Casemiro, left in order to join Manchester United. As a result, Tchouameni was placed as a starter for the club much quicker than anybody would have anticipated.

Tchouameni made a bright start to life at Real Madrid as well and put in some superb performances. But as the season progressed, his form started to dip, especially after the World Cup.

By the end of the campaign, Tchouameni had lost his status as a nailed on starter and found himself on the bench, whenever a big game came around. Unsurprisingly, that has raised questioned about Tchouameni’s future at Real Madrid and some of the biggest clubs around Europe have been linked with him.

Clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and a few others have been linked with Tchouameni. But it looks like the player himself intends to stay put at Real Madrid.

The Frenchman liked a tweet from RMadrid actu, which shared an update from Fabrizio Romano about Tchouameni not being available for transfer.

Tchouameni staying on at Real Madrid might be best for the club as well as the player. There have been rumours that Carlo Ancelotti could use a 4-4-2 formation next season, opening up another spot in midfield. If it happened, that would increase the Frenchman’s chances of getting minutes.

Tchouameni deserves another chance to show what he is truly capable of. Last season was his first one playing for a team outside of France and that too for Real Madrid, where the expectation is to win every game.
