There has been a connection between Real Madrid and tennis champions over the years. Of course, Rafael Nadal is one of the greatest in history and has won 22 Grand Slam titles over his storied career. And now, it looks like another Madridista is on his way to superstardom on the court. That is none other than Carlos Alcaraz.

Alcaraz won the US Open in 2022 and was the number one in the world heading into the Wimbledon final. But in the eyes of many, he was the heavy underdog against Novak Djokovic, the most decorated tennis player in history with 23 Grand Slam titles to his name.

Djokovic had won Wimbledon seven times in the past as well, and was looking to equal Roger Federer. And he made a sensational start in the final against Alcaraz, completely dominating the first set.

The Spaniard managed to make a remarkable comeback though. Ultimately, the game ended 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 in favour of Alcaraz, who won the first Wimbledon title of his career. It is looking like he could be the next face of tennis if he can continue on this trajectory.

Real Madrid look the opportunity to congratulate the Madridista on his triumph at Wimbledon. The club sent out multiple tweets:

Alcaraz has made a brilliant start to his career and it is important to remember that he has already won a couple of Grand Slam titles at just 20 years of age. If he can continue on this path then he could very well turn out to be the best player of his generation as the Federer-Nadal-Djokovic era nears its end.

Hopefully, we will get to see Alcaraz in the Santiago Bernabeu stands in the near future, taking in a Real Madrid game. We would also like to congratulate him on this incredible success.
