In the past, Real Madrid had a habit of signing some of Manchester United’s best players. Names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy and David Beckham fall under that category. They made the journey from Old Trafford to Santiago Bernabeu and went on to achieve success in the Spanish capital. Things have changed since then.

It is Manchester United, who have signed quite a few top players from Real Madrid in recent years. Angel Di Maria joined the Red Devils in 2014. Raphael Varane left for the Premier League giants in the summer of 2021. And Casemiro made the move last summer almost out of the blue.

Now, it looks like Manchester United could be looking to sign a player from Real Madrid three summers in a row. And they might have set their sights on one of Carlo Ancelotti’s starters.

As reported by El Nacional, Manchester United will try to sign David Alaba as long as Florentino Perez is open to negotiations.

Manchester United appear to be in search of a centre-back this summer. And Alaba is not the first Real Madrid defender that they have been linked with in recent weeks.

Manchester United were rumoured with an interest in both Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao as well. Now, it remains to be seen if the Red Devils end up making a move for any of them or not.

Alaba arrived at Real Madrid as a free agent in the summer of 2021, after his contract ran out at Bayern Munich. Since then, he has been a starter for Los Blancos and has enjoyed quite a bit of success as well.

Just over the past two seasons, Alaba has won La Liga, Champions League, Copa del Rey, Supercopa de Espana, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup with Real Madrid.
