Real Madrid have built up quite the reputation for signing the best young talents from around the world and then developing them into superstars in the Spanish capital. Names like Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Eduardo Camavinga and Fede Valverde fall under that category. And the likes of Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler seem destined to join that list.
Another player who has been linked with Real Madrid in recent months is Rasmus Hojlund. The Danish striker currently plays for Atalanta in Serie A.
Hojlund is just 20 years of age and he is one of the most highly rated young strikers in Europe right now. Thus, it is no surprise that Real Madrid were linked with him. But now, it appears that he might be closing in a on a move to Manchester United instead.
As reported by The Athletic, Manchester United have agreed preliminary personal terms with Hojlund. They have spoken to Atalanta over a deal as well. The Danish striker is the priority target but other options are also being considered by the Red Devils.
Manchester United agree terms with Real Madrid target
Manchester United are in search of a striker this summer. They were heavily linked with Harry Kane early on but since then, appear to have shifted their focus towards other players, with Hojlund appearing to top the list.
Hojlund does not have eye-catching numbers for Atalanta but they are solid, and there is no question about his talent. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists in 34 appearances and 1897 minutes of football for the Italian club.
While personal terms do not seem to be a problem, it remains to be seen if Manchester United are able to agree a transfer fee with Atalanta. On the other hand, Real Madrid are in need of a first-choice striker as well and should probably keep an eye on the Danish international’s situation.
