Real Madrid have started their transitional phase. The old guard is starting to make way for the next generation of players, who will guide the club into the future. We have seen many stalwarts like Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and others, depart in recent years, as the club bring in young players to take their spots in the team.
The squad is not completely balanced though. There are gaps in some positions and a wealth of options in others. One area in particular where they have a lot of quality and depth is midfield. Currently the squad has nine first-team players for three to four midfield spots.
As a result, Carlo Ancelotti might find it hard to give enough playing time to all of them. As a result, questions are being raised about some of their futures.
One Real Madrid player who has recently been linked with a move away is Aurelien Tchouameni. There seem to be no lack of clubs interested in the Frenchman’s signature either, despite of his inconsistent debut campaign with Los Blancos.
Thomas Tuchel interested in €80 million Real Madrid player
As reported by Sport1, Tchouameni is at the top of Tuchel’s wish list. There has already been a first exchange with the player side.
Tchouameni was a regular starter for Real Madrid before the World Cup break last season. However, after the domestic season resumed, the Frenchman slowly lost his place in the starting XI as his performances dipped. That has caused some to doubt his future at Santiago Bernabeu.
Tuchel appears to be a massive fan of Tchouameni. When the German was the Chelsea manager, they were linked with the Frenchman as well.
It remains to be seen if Tchouameni leaves Real Madrid this summer. There have been conflicting rumours about the matter. But it does feel like the Frenchman should get another season to prove himself at Santiago Bernabeu.
