Real Madrid player agrees terms to join La Liga rivals
Real Madrid do not have much depth in multiple positions right now. One of them is certainly right-back. Dani Carvajal might be a club legend but he is nowhere near the player today that he was in his prime. On the other hand, Los Blancos do not have any genuine cover in that area either. Neither Lucas Vazquez nor Nacho Fernandez are genuine right-backs.
Alvaro Odriozola is, but he has barely played for Real Madrid since joining the club in 2018. And now, it looks like he is closing in on a move away from the club on a permanent basis, having spent time out on loan at Bayern Munich and Fiorentina in the past.
As reported by Relevo, there is a total agreement between Odriozola and Real Sociedad. The only thing left to do is close the player’s departure with Real Madrid.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Odriozola. A Real Madrid exit might be the best step for all parties involved though.

Real Madrid signed Odriozola back in 2018 from Real Sociedad for a transfer package believed to be around €35 million including add-ons. Back then, he was considered one of the most highly-rated young talents in Spanish football. His developmental has not gone as expected though.
Odriozola has never really managed to nail down a spot for himself in the Real Madrid first-team. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 49 appearances for the club till now.
That is nowhere near enough. Odriozola’s loan spell at Bayern Munich was disappointing as well, but he was decent at Fiorentina. Now, at 27 years of age, perhaps a move back to Real Sociedad is the best step for him. He came up through the youth ranks there and played the best football of his career for the club too. Let’s see what the future holds.
