Kylian Mbappe has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for years now, but it has never transpired. The Frenchman seems closer to the Paris Saint-Germain exit door at the moment than he has ever before in the past. His contract situation means that PSG seem ready to part ways with him this summer.

Mbappe’s current deal runs until the summer of 2024. PSG have made their stance clear, they want him to sign an extension soon or leave in this transfer window.

Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Mbappe and appear to be the favourites, in the scenario that the Frenchman leaves PSG this summer. But they are not the only ones in the race to sign him.

As tweeted out by Fabrice Hawkins, Chelsea are interested in Mbappe. The Blues are studying the feasibility of the transfer. No offer has been made at the moment. At least one other English club is interested as well.

Mbappe has seemed destined to join Real Madrid for years now but there have been several twists in this transfer saga. So, the Frenchman joining Chelsea cannot be ruled out.

Of course, Chelsea will not be playing Champions League, or any European football, next season. That will hurt their chances of signing Mbappe, even if they tried to make a move happen.

Mbappe has been linked with other Premier League clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal as well. And if the opportunity to sign a player of his quality is there, one can never rule out Manchester City or Manchester United either.

Ultimately, it looks like there is a long way still to go in the Mbappe transfer saga. Hopefully, it ends with him joining Real Madrid, whether that be this summer or the next one.
