Kylian Mbappe has never looked closer to leaving PSG than he does now. Unlike times in the past, when he was linked with a move away, this time around, it seems like the French club are keen on the World Cup winner departing. That is because he has only a year left on his current deal with the Ligue 1 champions. Of course, Real Madrid’s name is doing the rounds of the rumour mill as a possible destination.

PSG are not keen to see Mbappe walk out as a free agent a year later, as they would miss out on a significant transfer fee in that scenario. They want him to either sign an extension or leave this summer itself.

Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid are the team who have been most heavily linked with a move for Mbappe. And now, there seems to be a bit more clarity about the situation of the French World Cup winner at PSG.

As reported by Sports Zone (via PSG Talk), Mbappe was not keen on the club appointing Luis Enrique this summer. Furthermore, he is not too happy with the transfer policy that they are taking too.

PSG were linked with several managers this summer before ultimately appointing Enrique. There is no doubt that he is a very good coach, but at the same time, he has never won a trophy outside of Barcelona.

Secondly, PSG’s transfer policy has certainly undergone a massive change in recent times. They went the route of filling up the team with superstars but never managed to find the right balance, and as a result, failed to win the Champions League. Something very similar happened with Real Madrid during the Galacticos Era.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Mbappe. He does hold most of the cards right now though, with only a year left on his deal.
