Manchester United have made a few excellent signings this summer but they are still in search of a new striker. The club were heavily linked with Harry Kane earlier in the window but it has become clear by now that that move is off the table. And now, a Real Madrid target seems to be their top choice to lead the line at Old Trafford moving forward.

That player is none other than Rasmus Hojlund. That Danish international is one of the most highly-rated young strikers in European football right now and he has earned comparisons with Erling Haaland.

Real Madrid have been linked with Hojlund for quite some time now, but are not believed to have made an offer yet. Manchester United seem to be ready to take that step though.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are now set to submit first official bid for Hojlund next week. They are believed to have already agreed personal terms with the player.

Hojlund is just 20 years of age and does not have a prolific record for Atalanta either. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 10 goals in 34 appearances for the Italian club till now.

But he remains one of the most highly rated young striker in all of European football, wanted by some of the biggest clubs on the planet. It is also believed that Atalanta will look for a transfer fee around £86 million in order to part ways with Hojlund.

Manchester United’s transfer bid is not expected to be that high. So, it will be interesting to see if there is room for negotiation over the fee.

Hojlund is a huge talent and might have been a great signing for Real Madrid. But it is hard to imagine Los Blancos shelling out that kind of a figure for the Danish international striker either.
