Real Madrid do not have a lot of squad depth at this point of time. There is one area where they are absolutely stacked though, and it is midfield. The club were already very strong in the middle of the park with players like Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Aurelien Tchouameni, Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Dani Ceballos.

All of them are still at Real Madrid. On top of that, they have signed Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler this summer.

Bellingham might be just 20 years of age but he is already amongst the best in the world and won the 2022/23 Bundesliga Player of the Season. The Englishman impressed immensely on his Real Madrid debut in pre-season against AC Milan as well.

On the other hand, Guler is believed to have impressed immensely since arriving from Fenerbahce as well. And the 18-year-old is clearly one to watch out for moving forward.

All of these top quality options mean that it is very difficult to get into Real Madrid’s midfield, especially for young players coming through the ranks. And that is exactly what has happened with Antonio Blanco.

As a result, it should come as no surprise that he is on his way out. As reported by the club’s official website, Real Madrid and Deportivo Alaves have agreed on the transfer of Blanco.

Blanco joined Real Madrid at 13 years of age and was one of the most highly-rated players while coming through the ranks. He made his debut back in the 2020/21 season but has not gotten a lot of opportunities since then. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 6 appearances for the club and played 254 minutes of football.

At 23 years of age, Blanco needs to be playing regularly. Thus, a move to Alaves might be the right step for him. He has been there on loan in the past.
