One of the players who Real Madrid signed this summer is Arda Guler. The Turkish wonderkid was brought in from Fenerbahce for a transfer package north of €20 million. The youngster has been earning a lot of plaudits with his performances in training since arriving as well, as it looks like Los Blancos might have pulled off another masterstroke.

We are yet to see Guler on the pitch though. He did not feature in the pre-season friendly games against AC Milan and Manchester United. And now, it looks like we will have to wait a bit longer before we get to see the 18-year-old in the Royal White jersey.

As reported by Real Madrid’s official website, Guler has been diagnosed with an injury to the internal meniscus of his right knee. He will travel to the Spanish capital to continue with specific treatment.

Initially, there had been hope that the youngster would take part in the game against Barcelona. But now, it is unlikely that we will see Guler feature in pre-season.

Real Madrid should not be in any hurry to get Guler on the pitch though. At the end of the day, he is just 18 years of age and playing at this level for the first time.

He will need some time to adjust to the skill level as well as the physicality. That is only natural. For now, the most important thing is that he gets back to full fitness.

Guler is an incredible talent without a doubt and the coaching team are believed to have been very impressed with what they have seen on the training pitch. At the same time though, it is important to not rush him into things and give him the proper time to find his way into the team.
