Real Madrid player makes bold claim after loss to Barcelona
Real Madrid’s recent record against Barcelona has not been the best. Following their 3-0 loss at the hand of the Catalan giants in a pre-season friendly, Los Blancos have now lost four of their last five games against Xavi’s side. Their only win over that run came in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals last season, an important 4-0 victory for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
It is quite clear though that Barcelona have been getting the better of Real Madrid more often than the Spanish giants would like. Hopefully, that will change once the season starts.
Real Madrid have a point to prove this season. They might have won the Copa del Rey in the previous campaign, but their La Liga title defence was nothing to write home about, as Barcelona won the league quite comfortably. Ancelotti’s side must do a lot better this time around.
The 3-0 defeat might have been disappointing, but at the end of the day, it was a pre-season friendly. Thus, it is important to not look too much into it. And Dani Carvajal seems to be confident of Real Madrid’s chances against Barcelona in the future.

As reported by GOAL, Carvajal said:
"“Losing against Barcelona is not a tasteful dish, but you have to know the moment we are in, what the game means. I am convinced that in official competition, we are going to pass over them.”"
The Spanish defender further went on to add about the matter:
"“We have had chances, five [shots hit the] crossbars, we have missed a penalty… don’t worry, when the moment of truth arrives, we will pass over them.”"
This pre-season has been more about implementing their new formation for Real Madrid rather than getting results. Ancelotti has moved away from the familiar 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2, as a result of the lack of options in the forward areas.
That has brought mixed results till now. Wins over AC Milan and Manchester United were viewed as major positives but the loss to Barcelona will have given the Italian a lot to think about. Real Madrid still have one more pre-season friendly to play before the La Liga campaign kicks off.
