Real Madrid have been linked with a lot of big-name players in recent times but their top target is believed to be Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman has been linked with a blockbuster move to Santiago Bernabeu for years now and on a few occasions, it has looked close as well. But till now, it has not materialised. That could change very soon though.

Mbappe’s current deal with PSG runs out in the summer of 2024 and it looks unlikely that he will sign an extension beyond that. As a result, the Ligue 1 champions appear to be keen to part ways with him.

Real Madrid appear to be the heavy favourites to sign Mbappe. But they are not the only club to be linked with a move for the Frenchman. Chelsea are believed to be in the running for his signature as well.

As reported by L’Equipe (via Football 365), PSG are expecting a concrete offer from Chelsea. The exact details of the potential proposal are not clear yet though.

Chelsea expected to make offer for Real Madrid target

Chelsea are coming off of their campaign of this century, in which they finished trophyless and 12th in the Premier League table. Thus, they have no European football to play this season and a very talented but inexperienced squad, which might not be ready to compete for major trophies yet.

All things considered, it is hard to imagine that Mbappe would end up at Chelsea this summer. The only way it feels even remotely possible is if it is only a season-long loan deal.

Let’s see what the Mbappe to Real Madrid saga holds in its future as well. There have been many twists and turns over the years. But at this stage, the Frenchman moving to the Spanish capital is starting to look inevitable.
