Real Madrid find themselves in an interesting position right now. They have an incredible amount of quality in their squad, with legends like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, world-class players in their prime like Thibaut Courtois, those on the cusp of superstardom like Fede Valverde, Vinicius Jr and Eder Militao as well as highly-rated youngsters like Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo and more.

One area where they are lacking is their depth. And yet, it looks like the club are ready to let a few players leave this summer.

One who falls under that category is Andriy Lunin. The 24-year-old has been very highly-rated for a long time but he has struggled to get ahead of Courtois in the pecking order. With just a year left on his current deal, it makes sense for Real Madrid to try and find him a new club now, rather than risk seeing him leave as a free agent a year later.

As reported by MARCA, Real Madrid have set a figure of €8 million to let Lunin go. Despite playing very few minutes in recent seasons, the player still has a demand.

It remains to be seen if Lunin ends up leaving this summer. There have been rumours that the player would prefer to see out his contract and leave as a free agent a year later.

Lunin joined Real Madrid in 2018. Despite being very highly-rated, he has only made a handful of appearances since then and even most of those have come when Courtois has been unavailable.

Lunin’s performances have recently dipped as well. Thus, it is clear that if he wants to take a forward step in his career, he needs to depart Real Madrid. Whether that will happen this summer or the next remains to be seen.
