One issue that has hurt Real Madrid over the past number of seasons is injuries. They continued on during the 2022/23 campaign, and the club have not been helped by their lack of depth in several positions across the pitch. One would be hoping that things improve this time around but the start has not been great.

One Real Madrid player who is no stranger to injuries is left-back Ferland Mendy. The Frenchman has spent a considerable amount of time on the sidelines since his arrival, and unfortunately, he is set to be out of action once again.

As reported by Onda Cero (via Managing Madrid), Mendy suffered a hamstring injury during the pre-season game against FC Barcelona. It looks set to keep him out of action for around a month

Since his arrival at Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, Mendy has suffered a long list of injuries. Those have ended up sidelining the Frenchman for a significant amount of time and he has missed a lot of games as a result. And this is the last thing he needed, with question marks around his future already.

This recent injury is the latest setback for Mendy, who is going through a rough patch on the field. The defender’s time at Real Madrid has been highlighted by injuries, which have also impacted his role in the team.

It is clear that Mendy’s importance to the team has dwindled, and with the arrival of Fran Garcia, he seems to have slipped down the pecking order. The latest injury will not help the Frenchman in that regard.

Some believe that the club should move on from Mendy this summer and transfer him. That might be difficult though, as he is set to be out injured.
