With Real Madrid closing out their pre-season soon, the focus will turn towards the new campaign. With the arrivals of players like Jude Bellingham, Fran Garcia and Arda Guler this summer, Los Blancos are clearly looking to build solid cornerstones for their future. However, there is still one major piece missing, a centre-forward.
With the departure of Karim Benzema, Real Madrid are left without a starter up top. The club have brought in Joselu on loan from Espanyol. However, most fans view the Spaniard as more of a rotation striker, and not the man to lead the line all season.
That makes the constant links with Kylian Mbappe more interesting. There seem to be new rumours surrounding the transfer saga every week and the latest one could provide a major boost to Real Madrid’s chances of signing him.
As reported by Andres Onrubia (via PSG Talk), citing sources, PSG have no plans to have Mbappe in the squad for their opening Ligue 1 game. That match is against FC Lorient on August 12.
PSG look set to drop Mbappe in Real Madrid boost
Mbappe does not appear to be interested in extending his contract at PSG, leaving the French club with very few options. They have made it clear that they want the World Cup winner to leave this summer if he does not sign a new deal, as they do not want to lose him as a free agent.
Leaving Mbappe out of the squad for matchday one would clearly be a message to him. Now, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid finally make their move for the Frenchman.
The Mbappe to Real Madrid saga has been dragging on for several years now. But it could finally all come to an end in this summer transfer window. Even if it does not, the Frenchman looks destined to end up at Santiago Bernabeu sooner or later.
