It feels like the end is in sight for the Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga. The Frenchman does not seem interested in extending his contract with PSG. On the other hand, the Ligue 1 champions want him to leave this summer, so that they do not end up missing out on a significant transfer fee.

It is Mbappe who holds most of the cards in this situation though. With just a year left on his contract, he could choose to see that out and leave as a free agent next summer although staying on at PSG when they do not want him would not be ideal.

Real Madrid appear to be his most likely destination, whether he leaves this summer or the next one. But clubs like Chelsea have been linked with a potential move as well.

As reported by SPORT, Mbappe would only be willing to go to Chelsea for one year on loan or transfer, but the operation does not suit either of the two clubs. The Blues have also been open to talking about a one-year loan as a solution.

It remains to be seen if Mbappe ends up at Chelsea for a year. Interestingly, he has been on trial with the Premier League club in the past even though he did not end up at Stamford Bridge.

Signing Mbappe on loan for a season would make sense for Chelsea, and it also allows the player to get a move away from PSG. On the other hand, a temporary exit would be better than nothing, if PSG are unable to agree a transfer for the Frenchman this summer.

Let’s see how things play out. But it is starting to feel like Mbappe is destined to end up at Real Madrid.
