Real Madrid are holding their cards very close to their chest when it comes to the Kylian Mbappe transfer saga. The club have been linked with the Frenchman for years now and yet, now that he is available and PSG want to part ways with him, Los Blancos have not rushed into making an offer for the World Cup winner.

Instead, it looks like Real Madrid are being patient and waiting for the right moment to make their move. The Spanish giants will know that they are in an extremely strong position right now.

Real Madrid are heavy favourites to sign Mbappe, whether he leaves PSG this summer or the next one. It is pretty much a win-win situation for Los Blancos.

As reported by Le Parisien (via Mundo Deportivo), Real Madrid would be waiting until August 15 to launch its first offer for Mbappe. If large enough for Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s interests, it will be accepted immediately.

The fact of the matter is that it is Mbappe who holds most of the cards in this situation. And it is believed that he wants to join Real Madrid.

Of course, the situation is fluid. The idea of a short-term loan for the season has not been ruled out either. Clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea are rumoured to hold an interest in the Frenchman, and there could be more to follow.

Unless something unexpected happens, Mbappe seems destined to join Los Blancos. It appears to be a matter of when and not if.

If Real Madrid sign him this summer, they will be getting a replacement for Karim Benzema. If he arrives next summer, they would be bringing in arguably the best player in the world as a free agent. It is pretty much a ‘can’t lose’ situation for Los Blancos.
