Real Madrid have earned a lot of plaudits in recent years for how well they have done when it comes to signing young talents from around the world and turning them into first-team regulars at Santiago Bernabeu. The likes of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga, all arrived as teenagers and are starters today.

While that record is commendable, one cannot also overlook the club’s struggles, when it comes to promoting their own youth players into the senior team. There are numerous examples of highly-rated youngsters who have never gotten enough chances at Santiago Bernabeu to show what they are truly capable of.

Sergio Arribas is someone who falls under that category. One of the most talented young players of his age group, he is now headed out of Real Madrid in search of opportunities.

As reported by the club’s official website, Real Madrid and Almeria have reached an agreement on the transfer of Arribas.

Almeria finished 17th in La Liga last season, barely avoiding relegation. Thus, one would expect Arribas to get first-team chances there straight off the bat. Let’s see how he does.

For years, Arribas was viewed as a future star for Real Madrid, but he never got enough opportunities in the Spanish capital despite his spectacular performances at the Castilla level. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made 14 appearances and played 183 minutes in total for the club.

That is simply not enough for a player who is set to turn 22 years of age next month. Thus, it is not hard to see why Arribas is headed out of the club in search of playing.

Over the years, we have seen Real Madrid bring back players, who have done well elsewhere. So, it is possible that we could see Arribas in the Royal White jersey in the future. For now, we can only wish him the best.
